Pricing of Hockey Bobbing Head Dolls

The prices shown are an AVERAGE of auction results. I have been recording sales on hockey dolls since 2006. They are based on Ebay sales and auction sites such as Inside the Park Collectibles, The Nodder Exchange, Hunt Auctions, Heritage Auctions, Huggins & Scott, WorthPoint and others. They do NOT reflect any buyer's premium (+14 to 24%) that some auction houses put on top of the sale price.

I update this price guide every three months. The values contained in the column labelled EX / NrMT will now reflect the average price realized for dolls over the past 1 year; going back from the date of the most recent update. There are some dolls such as the BLINKERS and the Swedish dolls that just are not seen that often, so the prices shown below may be over a longer period than 2 years. Also, some of the minor league dolls don't come up for auction often enough to get a good feel of what they are worth. Just to be clear, I will not use 1 sale price for a doll over a 1 year period and make that the new "average" value. 

I am always open and grateful to collector's who let me know when they have made a purchase for a vintage hockey doll that they purchased from another collector or at a collector show. The more prices I get or find, the more accurate the price guide.

PLEASE REMEMBER - prices are just a guide and are always subject to change. There are many variables that influence selling prices. For instance, prices in the USA and Canada differ because the sport of hockey has greater importance to fans and collectors in Canada. Also, dolls prices may be higher in the actual city of the team that the doll represents.     

  *** NY RANGERS dolls = A WHITE colored base decal is normal; the BLACK base logo variation - add a 30 - 45% premium (**  Please note that there are 2 different Rangers dolls with a Black team name on base - 1 has a DECAL and the other was done with a STENCIL. Decal seems to get a higher value for rarity reasons) (4/15/23)

New York Rangers "KDT" repainted dolls (with fake base & chest stickers); Since 2015, they are not seen too often and the dolls have sold for between $400 - $590 (show prices, auctions & eBay) A doll sold for $1211 plus buyer's premium on Sept 30, 2020.  UPDATED= JANUARY 2024  -----  UPDATE (9/17/2025)       It appears that "KDT" may have only made ~18 custom minis (read below for details) .

New York Rangers "JM Restorations" repainted dolls (with fake base & chest stickers); Since 2012, I have made around 12 of these dolls.  The dolls have sold for between $250 - $375 (My sales, show prices, auctions & eBay)  A doll sold for $1487 plus buyer's premium in spring of 2022.  UPDATED= January 2026

Repaints for other teams (also by "KDT") = (with original base & chest decals); I have seen Boston, Montreal, Toronto & Detroit dolls with "WHITE" or home jerseys.  See the MINI section for pictures of these "repainted" dolls. These dolls are in the $150 - $200 range.

UPDATE (9/17/2025) = I had a conversation today with "KDT" and he shared some interesting information. I asked him when & how many custom hockey minis did he make. His reply "I made them around 1988. I made 2 Detroit, 2 Toronto, 2 Boston and ~12 NY Rangers"   He also verifiied that he never made a Blackface Detroit Red Wings hockey mini

*** CAUTION == JOHNSTOWN JETS DOLLS WERE REPAINTED TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS DOLLS. THE DECALS WERE REMOVED AND THE WORDS ON THE CHEST & BASE WERE HAND PAINTED ON THE DOLL. WITH ALL THE DOLL RESTORATION & REPAIR ARTISTS THAT EXIST TODAY, I WOULD BE VERY CAUTIOUS BUYING THESE DOLLS UNLESS YOU KNOW THE SELLER OR OWNER.
